Good morning, Ms. Natasha,
Thanks for the questions. Ethical approval is required for all studies using primary data collection (having data directly from the participant), whether it’s quantitative or qualitative, observational or experimental. Since you will be collecting data via interviews using a semi-structured guide, you will need to apply for an ethical clearance to the regional or national ethics (depending on your study site).

All research projects involving humans require ethical clearance (observational or interventional).
Projects involving animals have special requirements from the ministries in charge of animal protection. Same with plants.
Systematic reviews don’t require ethical clearance.
