In the lectures above, we delved deeply into Ethics review in our context. Tell us what you think about the organisation and process for securing an ethical clearance in Cameroon.

Grateful about the all knowledge acquired going through this article. I think the process of obtaining ethical clearance has very much been facilitated and decentralised through the regional committes. I hope all the regions are going to have their committees.

Thank you for the rich content lecture.structurally the organization and the process for securing ethical clearance is well designed from my point of view just that every region should have their regional committee.

It is well organized and to secure and ethical clearance in Cameroon, you need to have the following aspects in mind:
-will the study take place in multiple regions or in a region without a regional ethics committee?
-will your study involve international collaboration and funding

Thank you for the elaborate lecture on ethics review in Cameroon.
I think it is great that securing an ethical clearance in your region or institution is possible. Also, having a research ethics committee in the country is good. To me,the process is not complicated as all the steps are a crucial part for the safeguard and good of the participants.

                Challenges and Recommendations:

                1. Resource Constraints**: Limited resources can affect the efficiency and thoroughness of the review process. To address this, increasing funding and support for RECs and NEC can help improve their capacity to handle reviews effectively.

                2. Training and Capacity Building: Ensuring that members of RECs and NEC are well-trained in ethical standards and practices is crucial. Regular training programs and workshops can help enhance their expertise.

                3. Coordination Between RECs and NEC: Improving communication and coordination between institutional RECs and the NEC can streamline the review process and reduce delays.

                4. Public Awareness: Raising awareness about the importance of ethical research and the role of ethics committees among researchers and the public can help in garnering support and compliance.

The system is laid out clearly and allows for stepwise follow through.
There’s need to also minimise time spent prior to approvals where possible.

Firstly I will thank the CRENC team for shedding light on this topic. Ethics Review Committees in Cameroon theoretically is doing well, but when it comes to community engagement there is still so much that can be done to ensure that research participants in Cameroon are aware of their rights, and that their rights are respected.

I think the process is quite easy plus the bonus of having ethics committee in most regions

It is well orgamised and less constraint if only you follow the right procedures put in place.

Thank you for the well structured lesson, for my point of view i think the system is well organized. The follow up by REC during the course of the approved research is equally very important, is it been done for all the protocols submitted at their level??.
I also think all regions should have their review board

So far, the ethical clearance process is well structured though it will be great to have each regional REC. My main problem was the time it takes for them to give a concrete reply, some take months to ever give you an answer and sometimes you still have to do corrections at another expense.
